Det var en nænsom, skrøbelig og intim oplevelse at se Marie-Louise Munck opføre sine lavmælte kompositioner i Musikhusets Lille Sal. Den er målrettet mod musikere, som Marie-Louise Munck, hvor sceneforhold og akustik er rammen om et fantastisk lille fristed Spot festivalen heldigvis stadig holder fast i.

I en opsætning med hovedpersonen skiftende mellem flygel og en skinnende hvid westernguitar, sammen med to supplerende håndlangere og korsanger, gav den solo-debuterende kunstner en yderst hæderlig koncert med masser af nerve, der især kom til udtryk via hendes følsomme og personlige tekster, der er relatérbare for de fleste.

Lækre guitarflader, lap-steel og kor supplement fra søsteren Camilla Munck (Munck//Johnson) udgjorde de udsmykkende detaljer til Marie-Louise Muncks egne akkompagnementer til sin vokal. Meget veldoseret og smagfuldt udfyldt.

En smule paradoksalt sad Marie-Louise Munck med ryggen skråt til publikum i de første numre, for sammenlignet med den yderst personnære lyrik, ville et ansigts konfrontation med sine lyttere have gjort det mere direkte. En hvis tilbageholdenhed lå i overfladen og lurede, men egentlig gjorde det bare, at man skærpede koncentrationen yderligere på selve musikken. Marie-Louise Munck vendte dog ansigtet mod publikum, da hun greb sin western guitar, og det var trods alt også rart at få hende mere henvendt til publikum.

Marie-Louise Muncks musik læner sig op af en vanlig singer/songwriter stil med ærlige tekster, fingerspilsguitar, udsmykkende guitareffekter, smukke flader til de melankolske tekster om diverse personmæssige temaer med mere.

Der var mange lavmælte højdepunkter undervejs, men undertegnede manglede dog det personlige favoritnummer med samme navn som debutpladen ”The Birds Fly Up”, som kan anbefales på det varmeste. Alt i alt, var det nu mere en luksusmangel, for koncerten var varm, gribende og ærlig, og selvom Marie-Louise Munck var en smule tilbagetrukken, så viste hun usandsynlig meget af sig selv via hendes smukke musik.
